WD invites all residents of Indonesia who have access to a camera and who enjoy taking pictures to submit their entries to its "My Life with Western Digital" photo contest. We are looking for pictures that best represent three of the key factors that set WD products apart: Reliability, Eco-Friendly and Performance.
The top three winners chosen by WDs panel of judges will receive cash prizes and a WD storage product. In addition, the contestant whose picture receives the most votes online will also receive a cash prize and a WD storage product. As a bonus, we will also give away a Canon Digital camera to 1 winner who guess correctly the photo who will have the highest vote.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES.
Each entrant may submit up to three photos. Each photo must meet the following requirements to be considered a valid entry:
File format: JPEG
Dimensions: 1024 x 768 pixels
Maximum file size: 2 MB
Style: Either color or black & white
Western Digital will inform selected contestants and contestants must prepare high resolution soft copy of the photo.
By entering the My Life with Western Digital photo contest (the "Contest") you agree to be bound by the following Official Rules:
ELIGIBILITY.
Open to all residents of Indonesia who are 18 (eighteen) years of age or older at the time of entry. Void wherever prohibited by law. Employees of Western Digital Corporation, its affiliates, subsidiaries and its advertising and promotion agencies, and anyone working directly on this program, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
CONTEST DESCRIPTION.
The Contest is skill-based, and the object is to submit up to three (3) photographs for judging for the chance to win cash and prizes as described below.
The Contest begins at 12:01 AM PT on May 27, 2009 and ends at 11:59 PM PT June 30, 2009 (Entry Period). All entries must be received prior to the close of the Contest Entry Period. Any entries submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.
The "Guess the highest vote" section of this competition begins at 12:01 AM PT on July 7, 2009 and ends at 11:59 PM PT July 31, 2009 (submission Period). All entries must be received prior to the close of the submission Period. Any entries submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.
Voting starts on 12:01 AM PT 7 July and closes on 11:59 PM PT 8 August 2009.
HOW TO ENTER.
No purchase necessary. To enter online visit the Contest website located at this URL and register. You will be asked to provide your first and last name, date of birth, street address, telephone number, e-mail address and valid ID. You must then submit your image(s), and then click on the "submit" button to be entered into the Contest.
For purposes of this Contest each digital image will be considered a single entry. Multiple entries are permitted in each category, but a maximum of three (3) entries is the total number of entries permitted.
Categories / Entry Limits.
Each entrant may submit a total of three (3) digital photographs in any of the following categories:
i. Reliability
ii. Power Savings
iii. Performance
Entrants may enter multiple photos in the same category. Any entries submitted by the same person in excess of 3 will be disqualified.
Entrants should also submit text with each photograph of up to 250 words, describing why the photo illustrates either Reliability, Eco-friendly or Performance.
SELECTION OF WINNERS.
A panel of three judges will judge each entry (photograph and accompanying text) and award points based on the following:
Photograph (70% of score)
(i) creativity and originality,
(ii) relation to contest theme, and
(iii) quality of the image
Text (30% of score)
(i) creativity and originality, and
(ii) (ii) relation to contest theme and photograph
Judges will select the top three entries, and those entries will receive the following prizes:
1st prize winner:
Rp 5.000.000 and 1piece of 1TB Caviar Black
2nd prize winner:
Rp 3.500.000 and 1 piece of 1TB Caviar Green
3rd prize winner:
Rp 1.500.000 and 1 piece of 750GB Caviar Blue
In addition, individuals who visit the website can vote for their favorite photograph and text, and the entry that receives the highest number of votes during the Contest Entry Period will receive a prize of Rp 1.000.000 and 1 piece of WD Scorpio Black 320GB. The voting will start from 7 July to 8 August 2009.
As a bonus, Western Digital is giving away 1 piece of Canon Digital Camera Ixus 80 to 1 winner who is able to guess correctly the entry with the highest vote. The submission for this entry starts from 7 July to 31 July 2009.
Winner will have to pay all necessary tax applied by Indonesian government All decisions of the judges in connection with this contest are final and binding, including the selection of winners and the selection WD products awarded to each winner.
Winners will be notified by telephone and/or email at the discretion of Western Digital within 2 weeks of the end of the Contest Entry Period. Winners may be required to provide Western Digital with an Affidavit of Eligibility / Liability / Publicity release as well as applicable tax forms. If a winning entrant cannot be reached by telephone and/or email after reasonable time and effort, is found to be ineligible, does not complete all forms requested by Western Digital or otherwise fails to comply with these Official Rules, that entrant shall be disqualified and the judges shall select an alternate winner in place of that entrant, subject to successful notification, eligibility verification and compliance with these the rules. Prizes will be awarded within approximately 60 days of notification.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION.
This contest is void where prohibited. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission by the entrant for Western Digital and its affiliates and subsidiaries to use a winners name, likeness, picture, and entry (both photograph and text) without additional compensation, notice, review or approval in any medium of communication now known or hereafter discovered, including without limitation, print, Internet, radio and/or television and for any purpose, including advertising, promotional or other purposes, unless and where prohibited by law. By entering this contest you agree to and hereby release and hold harmless Western Digital and its subsidiaries and affiliates, and its and their employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, successors, assigns, agencies and licensees, from loss or damage of any kind or any other causes of action or claims related to entrants participation in this contest or acceptance or use of the prizes awarded including, without limitation, any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy. Entrants who do not want to grant the foregoing release should not enter the contest.
Your entry must be your own original work. By submitting your entry in the contest, you represent and warrant that it is your sole original work, and that you have obtained any and all consents, approvals or licenses required for you to submit your entry (photograph and text) and comply with all of these Official Rules, including obtaining the written consent of all 3rd parties, where applicable. You waive any claim of infringement (including without limitation copyright, trademark, patent, trade name, trade secret, etc.) against Western Digital and its subsidiaries and affiliates or their licensees based upon access to or use of your entry. In the event of any dispute regarding who is the entrant that submitted an email entry, the potential winner must provide sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the potentially winning entry.
TAX CONSEQUENCES.
All applicable taxes assessed on the prizes awarded in the contest are the responsibility of the winner. The determination of any tax liability arising out of an entrant’s participation in this contest and the payment of any such tax liability shall be the sole responsibility of the entrant. However, should any taxing authority impose any tax withholding obligation on Western Digital with respect to a winner’s receipt of any prizes, the winner agrees to such withholding and agrees to timely provide Western Digital with any information that may be required to accomplish such withholding.
